Gorgeous Goat Creamery
As first-generation dairy farmers, my husband Matt Kriegler and myself, Maria Stewart, built this dairy farm from scratch. Unlike many farmers, we didn't inherit any land. Knowledge from past generations wasn't passed down to us. We saw the value goats brought to the forest as they combated invasive plants and we learned to manage goats and build a dairy with our grit and perseverance. Holding a PhD in Nutrition Science, I knew the nutritional value of goat milk, and it puzzled me that no dairies in New Jersey offered bottled goat's milk.... So why not start a goat dairy?!? But that wasn't our original intention
When we moved to New Jersey in 2016, we settled on a lovely property that’s now home to Gorgeous Goat Creamery. Initially, our forested land was choked with thorny, invasive shrubbery that was preventing native plants from growing. We needed an eco-friendly solution to manage invasive plants.
This is where the goats come in.
We opted to use goats to combat the invasive plants because we didn’t like the environmental effects of herbicide and physically removing the plants was too labor-intensive. When we chose our first four goats from a farm in Pennsylvania, a question popped into my head: “Wouldn’t it be fun to get a milking goat?” We learned that Carmen’s milk was delicious to drink and made amazing cheese. Why not milk more goats and start a dairy? That’s how in the year 2020, Gorgeous Goat Creamery was born.
Since then, we’ve turned our love for goats into your source for high-quality, sustainable goat dairy products. From our artisanal products to our on-farm events, we want to share the joy of delicious goat dairy.
